This year Enea Bastianini’s Fan Club will an area of its own for the Gran Premio di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini. The grandstand is located at Brutapela, sector B. Tickets are sold only on TicketOne’s circuit, to buy them and support Enea Bastianini from his official grandstand you have to:

2. Select the “GP San Marino e Riviera di Rimini 2022” event
3. Select the desired date
4. Select “Seating chart” to choose your preferred seat
5. Select “Brutapela” from the available grandstands
6. Select the pink-fuchsia seats with the fan club’s logo in sector “B”

Only a coming together at the start wirh Bezzecchi and Martin took away the joy of a podium (and who knows, maybe something more) to Enea Bastianini, who was surely the rider on the best form in this first round after the summer break.

Six overtakes in the second part of the race were the perfect display of the mental and physical form of the rider #23 that we used to see when the Italian stepped atop the podium this year. Enea bounced back from 11th place to 5th in less than eight laps, while having the better of (in order) Binder, Oliveira, Mir, Aleix Espargaro, Quartararo and Martin.

Thirteen points allowed the star of Team Gresini MotoGP to move back into fourth place in the standings (62 points from leader Quartararo) with the top three only 13 points away.

“At the start of the race it wasn’t easy to understand how to ride without a rear wing, but from halfway point I was able to put together a great race. Fourth is surely a good result, but to get so close to the podium without actually achieving the result left a strange test in my mouth. We put together a great comeback and it doesn’t really matter who I overtook, the important thing was to get as high as possible and we did it. We’re an evolved type of pokemon and I’m sure in a little while, more will follow.”

Bestia, who had a strong start to the encounter, was aggressively pursuing the front position before crashing while battling against Viñales for sixth place: a real shame as the podium was only few milliseconds away at the time. The only positive note is that Bastianini is still third in the championship standings, although with a significantly increased gap to the top and to second place.

I didn’t do anything unusual… I entered the corner the same way as the lap before but unfortunately the front-end didn’t hold. I wanted to do a decent race without overdoing it, but it didn’t happen. I have no explanation at the moment. Ironically enough I was really quick in that part of the track and we were doing a good race. We were right there, and even sixth or seventh would have been an important result.

It was overall a positive weekend for Team Gresini MotoGP who is back in the points with Enea Bastianini, as the Italian was eighth at the finish line in the sixth Grand Prix of the season at Jerez de la Frontera. The result was not a given for the rider #23, who struggled to find the right feeling with his Ducati Desmosedici GP21 machine.

Things went differently in the race as Enea did an amazing job in staying focused and finding the right pace in a race that was also affected by the high temperatures on the track. After a not-too-exciting start, Bastianini managed to move up the order as he bagged eight valuable points for the title race.

“I can’t say I’m happy with my eighth-place finish… but all things considered, we did the best we could. We managed to score some valuable points at the end of a weekend in which we struggled to find the feeling with the bike I was hoping for, and therefore tomorrow’s test couldn’t have come at a better time. I would like to leave Jerez with clearer ideas and be back riding the way I did at each event prior to this one.”

It was not a GP to remember for Enea Bastianini either. Today’s top-ten finish left a bittersweet taste in the Italian rider’s mouth as he struggled to get up to speed on the Argentine track. The few points scored allow him to remain in the higher part of the standings: Bastianini will fly out to Texas in third place, 9 points away from the top of the standings.

We’re not satisfied with how today went. We were not comfortable with the bike, and we lost the good feeling we had in the warm up this morning. We really didn’t understand this race well. I did have a decent pace, but I was too often at the limit. Maybe with a more ‘traditional’ weekend we may have had a few more options, but the goal was vey different. We had too many issues with the rear-end of the bike. We scored a few points, so let’s think positive and look forward to Texas.
